OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Iowa's Fifth District Congressman Steve King showed his support for Ottumwa’s Second District Candidate.
Representative King is backing Mariannette Miller-Meeks in her battle to gain a seat in the U.S. House.
The republican from Ottumwa is trying to upset one term incumbent democrat Dave Loebsack.
On Monday King and Miller-Meeks met with businesses leaders from within the Wapello County area.
"Anytime
you have an elected official who represents a part of your state, it's
important to have that support from them, [it] helps navigate through
political issues and also it gives voters an idea that there are other
people who can see what you can bring to the table, especially in
congress. In a divided congress at that," Miller-Meeks said.
They discussed hot-button issues such as more funding for flood relief and a resolution to the energy crisis.
Miller-Meeks
says she hopes to learn how King turned his district into an energy
powerhouse and hopes to utilize more of southeast Iowa’s resources.
According to King, Iowa's Fifth District is the number one renewable energy producing congressional district in America.
